Christmas Teaser

17 Nov

Last weekend I started decorating the outside of my home for Christmas.  A little early perhaps, but the weather was so unbelievably mild that I thought I should take advantage of it.

We’ve been living in our house for about 5 years now and every year I’ve pretty much decorated the outside the same way.  This year I really wanted a change.  I’m not posting any pics until it’s completely finished, but this is just a little hint…..

….stay tuned! 🙂

A Quick Recap of Halloween

13 Nov

I’m a bit late on sharing some Halloween pics, but better late than never right?

For Halloween, I basically just add a few things to my Fall decorations. I must say I am lovin’ the chalkboard!

This year the whole family each carved our own pumpkin, which I think we will now make a tradition.  Mine is at the top, my husbands at the bottom, with the kids in between.  In years past I’ve tried more intricate designs but this year I did something more simple and classic Halloween.

A closer look at my husband’s creation.  He was beyond proud. 🙂

A night shot…I apologize for it’s poor quality.

Now that the Halloween decorations are gone & packed away, I can’t wait to decorate for Christmas!

Welcome To My Porch

27 Aug

I bought this old flour can at a yard sale a few years back.  It belonged to an elderly lady who had recently passed away. Inside the can there was still some flour residue & even an old-fashioned sifter!  For the life of me, I cannot remember where I put it.  As you can see the can was well used.  I bought it to use as decoration on my front porch.  Each year when I brought it out, it seemed to look worse and worse.  So I thought I would give it a makeover.  I had some left-over black spray paint so that helped me to avoid the ever lasting process of choosing a color.

Everyone who knows me, knows I’m all about the porch, so after browsing through some signs online, I opted for the image above.  I left the top off, so now it can serve as a plant stand.  I lucked out that my pot was the perfect size!  Now I love it!  It makes me smile  every time I walk up the porch steps. :)
