I have a few projects on the go but none that are completely finished….story of my life. Having said that, I thought I’d share some before pics with you.
This was given to me by my in-laws. It was sitting by the side of the road among the discards of a yard-sale. By its smell I would say it spent the last few years of its life in a barn. My Mother-in-law said “The only person who would ever want that is Jennifer”. I’m taking that as a compliment.
Hidden behind the cabinet is another gift from the in-laws. This one I was so excited about, I can’t even say. I’d been wanting an old window for a while now and what just happened to be laying behind their shed? I really think I wished it into existence. The possibilities are endless!
This used to be my Father’s desk when I was a kid. I can still see him sitting there tying flies which he would use to catch many a salmon(which he would never eat). Back then it was a dark 70s brown fake wood look. It is actually a sewing machine desk but ironically was never used as such.
I’ve been after my parents to give me this old cupboard for years. I have no idea how old it is except that it is older than me. My parents had it in an old house they were renting before I was born. I’m guessing its 50 years old or more. Finally they brought it up from the basement and gave it to me. My Mother can’t understand why I want it so badly. Hopefully after she sees its transformation she’ll change her mind.
This was yet another yard sale find, given to me by my in-laws. It is an old school desk complete with matching chair. I think their intention was for the kids to use it to do their homework on, but since the girls already have a desk in their room and Samuel doesn’t have any room for one, I’ve decided to turn it into something else. Stay tuned…
This final piece just arrived last night. I’ve been impatiently awaiting its arrival since the first of August, when my Uncle said I could have it. It is a chair from my late Grandparents house. My Uncle inherited the house and now rents it out. The previous tenants vacated the house last week, so my Mom was free to go in and remove the chair and delivered it to me last night. Like the cupboard above, both my Mom & my Uncle do not see what all the fuss is about. To them it is simply an old chair that is falling apart. My Uncle had actually been meaning to throw it out since he was scared someone might actually try to sit on it. Thankfully that didn’t happen. My Mom says she knows this chair has been around for at least 50 years or more. For sentimental reasons I think this is the one I am most excited about.
Did I say I had a few projects on the go? I meant six.
